01The agreement
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Waterloo Sun Inc. (“Waterloo Sun,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), the company that owns and operates the Lineup mobile application, website, and related services (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account, downloading the app, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you are using Lineup on behalf of a barbershop, salon, or other business, you represent that you have authority to bind that business to these Terms, and “you” refers to both you and that business.
02Who can use Lineup
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater) to use the Service. Lineup is built for working professionals — barbers, stylists, and shops — and is not directed at children.
You must also comply with the terms of any third-party platform you connect to Lineup, including Instagram and TikTok. If a platform’s rules prohibit something, our Service doesn’t make it allowed.
03Your account
You are responsible for your account credentials and for everything that happens under your account. Keep your login secure, and tell us promptly at support@lineup.app if you suspect unauthorized access.
You agree to give us accurate information when you sign up and to keep it up to date. We may suspend or reclaim usernames that violate these Terms or impersonate others.
04Your content
You own your clips. Any videos, photos, captions, audio, or other material you upload to or create with the Service (“Your Content”) remains yours. We claim no ownership over it.
To run the Service, you grant Waterloo Sun a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, transcode, edit, display, and transmit Your Content — solely for the purpose of operating, providing, and improving the Service for you. This includes generating edits and captions you request and publishing posts to the social accounts you connect, on the schedule you approve.
You are responsible for Your Content. By uploading it, you confirm that:
- You own it or have the necessary rights and permissions to use it, including any music, marks, or third-party material it contains;
- You have obtained any consent required from people who appear in it — including your clients — before filming and posting them;
- It does not violate any law or any third party’s rights, including privacy, publicity, and intellectual-property rights.
05AI features
Lineup uses artificial intelligence to edit clips, select cover frames, write captions, and recommend posting times. AI output can be wrong, awkward, or off-brand. You review and approve before anything posts — nothing is published without your say-so, and you are responsible for the content you approve.
AI-generated captions and edits are provided to you as part of the Service; to the extent we hold any rights in them, we assign them to you once delivered. Posting-time recommendations are estimates based on your audience activity, not guarantees of reach, engagement, or bookings.
07Subscriptions & beta
Beta period. While the Service is in beta, it is offered free of charge. Beta software is a work in progress: features may change, break, or be removed, and we may limit access at our discretion.
Paid plans. If we introduce paid subscriptions, pricing and terms will be presented before you are charged. Purchases made through the Apple App Store are processed by Apple and subject to Apple’s terms; subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through your App Store settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Except where required by law or by Apple’s policies, payments are non-refundable.
08Acceptable use
Don’t misuse the Service. In particular, you agree not to:
- Upload content that is unlawful, infringing, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that depicts anyone without the consent the law requires;
- Use the Service to spam, mislead, or artificially manipulate engagement on any platform;
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or probe the Service, or interfere with its operation or security;
- Resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties except as we expressly allow;
- Use the Service to violate any third-party platform’s terms;
- Upload malware or content designed to disrupt the Service or other users.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that we reasonably believe violate this section.
09Our intellectual property
The Service — including the app, site, design, illustrations, software, and the Lineup name and marks — is owned by Waterloo Sun Inc. and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on your devices for your own business purposes, subject to these Terms. No other rights are granted.
Feedback you send us about the Service may be used by us without restriction or obligation to you.
10Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in the app or by emailing support@lineup.app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service.
On termination, your license to use the app ends and we will delete or de-identify Your Content as described in our Privacy Policy. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) survive.
11Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, Waterloo Sun disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any post will reach any particular audience or produce bookings, followers, or revenue.
12Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Waterloo Sun Inc. and its directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose, and (b) CAD $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
13Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will give you reasonable notice — for example, in the app or by email — before it takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
14Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You and Waterloo Sun agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada for any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring claims in your local courts.

06Connected social accounts
When you connect Instagram, TikTok, or another platform, you authorize Lineup to access and act on that account as needed to provide the Service — for example, publishing scheduled posts and reading engagement metrics. We act only on the permissions you grant and you can disconnect a platform at any time in the app’s settings.
Third-party platforms are outside our control. Their availability, rules, and APIs can change without notice, which may limit or break features of the Service. We are not responsible for actions a platform takes against your account, including content removal or suspension.
